Where vacuums excel brooms don’t and where brooms excel vacuums don’t - so whats the solution? - a Vacuum Broom of course:
Wilson Song has come up with this lightweight and compact design that comes with a dust pan. The thick bristles are perfect for shuttling trash into the pan but what makes it a vacuum broom are the suction ducts inside each hollow bristle. It may not be a Dyson but sounds like a good basic solution for hard floors and area rugs.

Seems like a good idea but whats stopping the bigger bits of rubbish that you want in the pan from getting sucked and stuck on the bottom of the broom, I guess that could get annoying..
